L'Oreal - Owl's Night

Hi!!!

Sorry I've been a little MIA lately. I haven't been painting my nails much (*gasp*), since I recently trimmed them down. But now that they're back to a nicer length, I wanted to try out one of my new beauties, "Owl's Night" from L'Oreal's Project Runway Collection that was recently released. I found this a few weeks ago at Walgreen's, right as they were putting the display out. I loved the color so much, I bought 2 bottles (they were BOGO 1/2 off!). After I got home with my new polish, I started searching online for information about it, and learned that it had already become HTF. So, when I saw another bottle a couple of days later, I bought that one, too! I ended up only buying two colors from this collection - "Owl's Night" and "Raven's Strength" which is kind of a smokey navy blue shimmer. I can't wait to try out that one, either!!!

I'll let the pictures do the talking with this polish. But I did want to mention one thing - the tip wear.. I applied this polish last night and took pictures right after I was done. I wore the polish all day today and am noticing quite a bit of tip wear on my nails. Except for using a new top coat (Poshe Top Coat), I didn't really do anything out of the ordinary with this mani and I wasn't overly hard on my hands and nails today. Maybe it's the polish, maybe it's the top coat, who knows? Just thought I'd mention it.

Application
Deborah Lippman 2 Second Nail Primer
2 coats of OPI Nail Envy, Original Formula
2 coats of L'Oreal "Owl's Night"
1 coat of Poshe Super-Fast Drying Top Coat

I've gotta say, except for the bad tip wear, I was really, really impressed with this polish. This was my first bottle of L'Oreal nail polish I've ever purchased (nice price, btw!). Ya know, come to think of it, a lot of the drugstore brands have really stepped up their game lately and have come out with some pretty awesome collections (Maybelline, Wet 'n Wild and Revlon come to mind immediately). Nice job, L'Oreal - looking forward to what you've got coming for us in the future!

What do you think about this new shade from L'Oreal? Have you ever tried other colors of theirs before? If not, why?

Barielle Promotional Video - With a Picture of My Nails!

Hi, everyone!

So, I was on Barielle's Facebook page tonight, and I saw a link to a promotional video of theirs on their wall. I decided to click on it and after watching for a little over a minute, I saw a picture of MY NAILS!!!!! Yes, the swatch picture of "Berry Blue" that I submitted in their Mani Pedi Monday Contest about a month ago is included in their promotional video!

Here's a link to the video. You can either watch from the beginning (there are tons of neat swatch photos!) or you can skip to 1:09 to see my picture.

Just wanted to share the cool news!

Have a great week!

Revlon - "Facets of Fuchsia"

Happy Sunday, everyone! Hope you've been enjoying your first Fall weekend of the year! Here in St. Louis, the weather has been absolutely gorgeous! As my mom always says, "If the weather were like this all year-round, we wouldn't be able to afford to live here!" Fall is definitely my favorite season of the year. I just hope we get a full Fall this year, and we don't get ice and snow too early!

Today, I wanted to share with you my mani of the day: Revlon's Facets of Fuchsia. I recently purchased this at Target for around $4. Except for wearing Revlon's Perplex, I don't have a lot of experience with their polishes. But let me tell ya, so far, so good! Talk about an all-around bargain! I just was amazed at their quality, and am quite impressed with their color selections! And you can't beat their price and availability!

Facets of Fuchsia is supposed to be a dupe of Deborah Lippman's Bad Romance. Now, I can't claim this to be true, since I don't own Bad Romance. Based on the swatch pictures I've seen online though, I think it's safe to say they're close to identical. If you like BR but don't want to fork out the $18 for a bottle, go get yourself a bottle of FoF - you won't be disappointed! But go quick - this is a Limited Edition color from Revlon and won't be around long!

I layered FoF over 2 coats of OPI Black Onyx. I didn't want any VNL and I was afraid it was going to be sheer, so I figured I'd be safe and just layer it over black.

I do recommend using either Poshe or Gelous Top Coat (I used both for this mani!). They will smooth out your nail and give you a high-gloss shine!

Application:
Deborah Lippman 2 Second Nail Primer
1 coat OPI Nail Envy, Original Formula
2 coats of OPI Black Onyx
1 coat of Revlon Facets of Fuchsia
1 coat of Gelous Nail Gel Coat
1 coat of Poshe Super-Fast Drying Top Coat
CND SolarSpeed Spray

Thanks for stopping by!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Paws to Polish - 30th Birthday Giveaway - WINNER!!!

Hi, everyone! Happy Wednesday!

I know a lot of you were hoping I would have announced the winner of this giveaway yesterday (my actual birthday), but I had a very, very busy day. I didn't end up getting home until around 11:30pm and was too tired to tally up entries and choose a winner. Sooooo, I made sure to take care of everything tonight and pull a winner!

Before I announce the winner, I want to thank ALL of you who entered my 30th Birthday Giveaway! I had such a fun time reading the responses you all left with your favorite birthday memory. Some of you also left cute little jokes, messages or funny stories and I enjoyed reading those, too!

I am a member of various nail polish Facebook groups and also post on OPI, Zoya and China Glaze's Facebook page every now and then. I decided that to keep things fair and to give everyone the same opportunity to find out about the winner, I would only post it here on my blog.

The winner of my giveaway will have 48 hours to respond to the e-mail that will be sent. If I do not hear from them within 48 hours, a new winner will be chosen and contacted.

Without further adieu, the winner of my 30th Birthday Giveaway is......

Harri Bowers

Harri had a total of 4 entries and the entry that made her a winner was her blog post about this giveaway!!!!

Harri, I will be contacting you at the e-mail address you provided. So, go check your e-mail - now!!!!

When I send the giveaway package, I will use Delivery Confirmation. Once I receive notification that it has been delivered, I will share with you all picture of the prizes along with descriptions! I want this to remain a surprise until Harri receives her package!

Thank you, again, for helping me celebrate my 30th Birthday! I had a ton of fun and would probably say that this was the best birthday yet!

Much love, Katie <3

Barielle - "Berry Blue"

Hey, gals! Happy Monday! Maybe I should say "Happy Barielle Mani Pedi Monday"!

For those of you who aren't familiar with the brand Barielle, they have a Facebook page where they do Mani Pedi Monday contests and fans can submit their Mani/Pedi Barielle pictures.

I submitted a photo today of my "Berry Blue" mani. I LOVE this color! It was such a BREEZE to apply. The best way I can describe this color is like a watery creme (but not a jelly). It's a great polish that was super easy to work with! And the color is divine! This is just the PERFECT color for fall, too! Lovin' it!

Here's the picture I submitted:

Here's a direct link to their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/barielle

Before you can vote, you first have to "Like" their page. Then, please "Like" my photo! :-)

Thanks for your support!

Have a great night,
