OPI's "Samoan Sand" - now one of my top 10 favorite OPI's colors!

As you can probably see from my polish collection below, I love dark, "vampy" nail polish - but I haven't always. In fact, I had never worn a color darker than a creamy, fleshy nude before I painted my nails "My Private Jet" in September of 2010 (OPI's "Bubble Bath" used to be my go-to nude polish). I'll admit, it was a little strange at first, but after an hour or so after staring at my nails non-stop, I was in love, and never went back to the lighter colors - until yesterday.

I made my weekly trip to the local beauty supply store yesterday, hoping they would have the new OPI Texas Collection (I know, I know, the collection wasn't due to be released to the public until February 1st...). Since I wasn't able to get my hands on any new colors, I figured, why make it a wasted trip - I should buy something! So, after eyeing all of the rows and rows of polish, I couldn't help but pick up a bottle of "Samoan Sand". It just seemed like the perfect nude color - a color I could wear and look classy and feel sexy. So, $7.25 later, it's mine!

Oh, I forgot to mention, I also bought my first bottle of OPI's Ridge Filler. I had never tried it before, but had some bumpiness on my right thumb nail, so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm so glad I did! Awesome stuff!

Here are some pictures of "Samoan Sand":

Application:
OPI Chip Skip
1 coat of OPI Nail Envy, Original Formula
2 coats of OPI Ridge Filler
2 coats of OPI "Samoan Sand"
1 coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

The application was super-easy. Both the Ridge Filler and "Samoan Sand" applied flawlessly, and there was very little clean-up afterwards. This is now my new go-to nude (Don't worry, my little "Bubble Bath's", I'll get you out and play with you every now and then...).

According to both OPI's website and their most recent color catalog, "Samoan Sand" is in their Classics Collection, so I don't think we have to worry about this one going anywhere, anytime soon!

Katy Perry has arrived in the STL!

While I was on my lunch hour yesterday, I decided to stop by my local JCPenny, just to see if they had gotten in the Katy Perry collection by OPI. To my surprise, they had the display right up front on the counter! I purchased the "Black Shatter" and "Teenage Dream".
I was so anxious to try out my new polishes, that when I got back to my office, I threw on a coat of "TD" and "BS" right there at my desk. The "TD" was much thicker and "goopier" than I was used to, but apparently that's normal, since it's a jelly polish.
When I got home that night, before I went out later, I painted my whole hand with this same duo and boy did it look hot! (See pictures below).
I liked the "Teenage Dream" so much that I went back out today and bought the blue version of the polish, "Last Friday Night". I'm so anxious to try this one out too. When I do, I'll be sure to post pictures!

Now, here's a picture of my nails painted with 2 coats of "Teenage Dream"

My nails with 1 very thin coat of "Black Shatter" (over 2 coats of "TD")

These last 2 pictures show 2 coats of Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat added on top of the "Black Shatter". I definitely recommend using at least 1 top coat after "BS".

With "Black Shatter", the combinations are endless! I'm already excited to try it on top of some of the Burlesque glitters, "Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous", "Alpine Snow" and some of the holo polishes (like my newly acquired "Standing Room Only")!

Happy "Shattering"!
